Call for Entries
LACDA 2008 INTERNATIONAL JURIED COMPETITION

Enter our juried competition for digital art and photography. Entrants submit three JPEG files of original work. All styles of artwork and photography where digital processes of any kind were integral to the creation of the images are acceptable. The competition is international, open to all geographic locations. The selected winner recieves 10 prints up to 44×60 inches on canvas or museum quality paper (approximately a $1500-$2000 value) to be shown in a solo exhibition in our main gallery from January 8-31, 2009. The show will be widely promoted and will include a reception for the artist.
Second place prizes: Five second place winners will receive one print of their work up to 24×36 inches ($150-$200 in value) to be included in upcoming group shows. Second place winners will be scheduled into group shows within twelve months of announcement of winners. Consideration is given to placing these works in shows appropriate to their style, genre and/or content. These shows will be widely promoted and will include a reception for the artists.
Special consideration will be given to all entrants for inclusion in future shows at LACDA. Entrants to our competitions form the pool of artists from which exhibits are curated, many entrants from past competitions have already been included in our exhibits.

Exhibit Dates: January 8-31, 2009
Registration fee is $30US (three images).
Multiple entries permitted, additional $30 entry fee for each three images.

DESIRE

The New Orleans Photo Alliance is seeking work that explores the nature of DESIRE to be exhibited during February and March, 2009 at the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery.
Desire is an eager wish to possess or enjoy. Its objects range from the pious to the sensuous to the mundane. Desire is, by its nature, unsustainable. Desire is fleeting, but images last forever. This exhibit encourages photographers to interpret, question or celebrate the myriad aspects of desire.
Deadline for submissions: Midnight, Monday, January 5, 2009
Notification of Acceptance: Monday, January 12, 2009
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 5, 2009, 6-9 pm
Exhibition: Saturday, February 5 – Saturday, March 21

Eligibility: Open to photographers of all levels using any photographic process. All art submitted must be original work created by the applicant.
Submission Guidelines:
-Include up to 5 images per submission.
-Please save digital files in jpeg format at 72 dpi and 800 pixels on the longest dimension.
-Title each image with: last name_firstname_title_print-type_image-size_entrynumber.
-Accepted work should be presented with black frames and white mats, wired and ready to hang.
-Work that arrives after the delivery deadline will not be included in the exhibit.
-Shipped work must have return postage included in package.
-Artwork will be insured while on premises. Insurance during shipping is the artist’s responsibility.
-Sales/ Commissions: 70% Artist and 30% Photo Alliance

Another of our festival partners, VISAVIS, founded and directed by Nathalie Luyer, presents a monthly selection of online photography exhibitions, a quarterly publication, weekly meetings and discussions, and a series of hands-on workshops in Italy.
On the 6th of the month, 6 photographers and 6 of their photos are presented online like 36 exposures on 1 roll of film with differents ways to see. To participate in this selection, please send your pictures (10 max.in Jpeg 350 X 550 pixels et 72 dpi) via email (or weblink). The selection will be made from the images we receive and from or the websites discovered online.
