FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA PROPOSAL, PARTICIPATION, & REGISTRATION GUIDELINES

We invite you to participate in the FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA FESTIVAL, which takes place
September 1 - 30, every year, in San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.

If you live in the San Antonio/Texas Hill Country area, the easiest way to participate in the FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA FESTIVAL is to organize your own exhibit or event so that it opens,
takes place, or is on display anytime between September 1 - 30.

If organizing your own exhibit or event, please make sure you register the exhibit or event by filling out the FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA REGISTRATION FORM, which is available on this web site as a PDF document. Send us the completed entry form via email (attached PDF file), or print it out and send it via First Class Mail, Fed-Ex, or UPS.

To be included and promoted as part of our festival, an exhibit or event must be registered with FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA-SAFOTO. We must receive a completed REGISTRATION FORM, images (Premium Listings), and fees (Premium Listings) no later than the July 1 deadline. Early registration is always better.

If you'd like to propose a portfolio of work for an exhibit in one of the many public and private exhibition venues that collaborate with FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA every year, we need to see 20 to 40 images from the proposed body of work as soon as possible. We will present your images to participating venues. Most exhibition spaces schedule their events up to a year in advance and your proposals could be considered for future exhibits. Be advised that we cannot guarantee exhibition opportunities for anyone.

SENDING IMAGES AND/OR PORTFOLIOS

We accept images (JPEG or PDF) via email or third party FTP services like www.yousendit.com.

We also accept digital files (JPEG or PDF files on a Mac readable CD), portfolio books and prints sent via First Class Mail, Fed-Ex or UPS.

We will review portfolios of images featured in artist-owned or gallery-owned web sites. We do not review portfolios on third-party, community/network web sites.

High resolution digital file requirements: Photoshop JPEG or PDF. 10 inches on the longest side. RGB. 300 DPI.

Low resolution digital file requirements (for review only): Photoshop JPEG or PDF. 10 inches on the longest side. RGB. 72 DPI.

FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA REGISTRATION DEADLINES

June 1 is for confirmation of participation in the FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA FESTIVAL.
July 1 is our final deadline for receiving the completed Registration Form with exhibit/event listing information, fees, and images.

Early registration is always better.

PLEASE USE OUR FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA REGISTRATION FORM and read instructions carefully. Entries that do not follow these guidelines will not be included in our festival listings and fees will not be returned. You can send the FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA REGISTRATION FORM via email (attached PDF file), or print out the form and send it via First Class Mail, Fed-Ex or UPS.

ALL FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA PARTICIPANTS MUST DISPLAY THE FESTIVAL LOGO IN PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS AND AT EXHIBITION VENUES. You can DOWNLOAD THE FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA LOGO from our web site or you can request that we send the logo via e-mail.

For audience comfort and accessibility, increased attendance, and cross-promotional opportunities for participating venues; we encourage clustering exhibit openings by geographical location. Please contact us for detailed information.

We have two options for exhibit and event listings (see Listing Options below) on our web site and in our promotional materials.

LISTING OPTIONS

  • Basic Listings are free and include abbreviated exhibit or event information.
  • Premium Listings are $200.00 for the first listing and $100.00 for each additional listing, and include images and detailed exhibit or event information.

BASIC LISTING

Basic Listings (numbers 1 - 4) are free and include the following:

  1. Title of exhibit, event, lecture or conference. One title per venue. FOR MULTIPLE EXHIBIT LISTINGS IN ONE VENUE PLEASE USE SEPARATE REGISTRATION FORMS.
  2. Name(s) of artist(s) or participant(s). Please list clearly. Due to the space allotted to Basic Listings, only a limited number of artists can be included.
  3. Name of venue. Complete mailing address. Phone number. Web site. Email address, etc.
  4. Exhibit opening and closing dates. Please include opening reception date and time for chronological reference.

PREMIUM LISTING

Premium Listings (numbers 5 - 9) require a $200.00 fee for the first listing and $100.00 for each additional listing. Premium Listings include all the Basic Listing information (1 - 4), plus the following:

  1. Exhibit opening reception time.
  2. Exhibit viewing hours.
  3. Contact person. Web site. Email address.
  4. Additional information: Curatorial, technical, related events, performances, etc.
  5. Image for reproduction (send several to choose from). We prefer a CD or DVD with JPEG or PDF files, but you can send images via email or third party FTP services (www.yousendit.com) as well. Digital files should be Photoshop JPEG or PDF, 10 inches on the longest side, 300 DPI, RGB (Macintosh readable files only). Prints are OK too, no larger than 10 inches on the longest side. Images or CDs will become part of our archives and will not be returned.

IMPORTANT: If we do not receive your Premium Listing entry fee by our July 1 deadline, your exhibit will be registered as a free Basic Listing.

For Premium Listings include a check from a US bank or a money order payable to Michael Mehl. The check has to arrive no later than our July 1 deadline, otherwise the exhibit or event will be registered as a free Basic Listing.
