Call for Entries – Polish Photo Festival
Grand Prix, a series of individual exhibitions presented in the unique, postindustrial halls of the Lodz Art Center, is one of the most important parts of Fotofestiwal. Each year – from the projects submitted by artists from all around the world – we choose 10 – 12 exhibitions of work that has not been shown in Poland. All photographers are encouraged to send us work. There are no restrictions on subject, technique or number of photographs. However, do not send single photographs. We only consider series of images, projects which are competed or are in the process of being completed.
Deadline for submissions is November 20, 2009.

Call For Entries | Singapore International Photography Festival | October, 2010

The Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF) is the first event of its kind in Southeast Asia. This biennial festival strives to provide a platform for Southeast Asian artists to showcase their works alongside their international peers at various venues across Singapore. The three main festival components are the official exhibitions, workshops and a 2-day portfolio review session for 50 selected Southeast Asian photographers. This will be followed by a series of workshops facilitated by curators and senior photographers for 40 participants. Alongside the official exhibitions and programmes, the SIPF Fringe activities will be carried out at various arts galleries, arts spaces and education institutions to promote photography across Singapore.

Deadline for submissions: Open call until March 31.

Aichi Triennale 2010 is an open platform for artists and curators who seek to challenge the idea of arts. Some artists and curators may take a lead of the art world at top speed, while others may critically look to their past, the cultures around them, or where they stand. We challenge to set up a stage where diverse cultures and historic elements can encounter one another by searching for the connections from multifaceted viewpoints.

Call For Entries | New Orleans Photo Alliance | The American Dream | Juried by Deborah Willis

February 4 – March 21, 2010

What does the American Dream look like? How is it now defined? Has it been realized? The New Orleans Photo Alliance is seeking contemporary photographs that explore these questions and more about The American Dream. Dr. Deborah Willis, chair of the Department of Photography and Imaging at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and one of the nation’s leading historians of African American photography, will jury this exhibition.

Selected entries will be exhibited in the New Orleans Photo Alliance Gallery during the months of February and March 2010. They will also be featured and archived in the Alliance’s online gallery and considered for publication in the New Orleans Photo Alliance Best of 2010 Photo Annual. In addition, the juror will award cash prizes.

K Space Contemporary (Corpus Christi, Texas) is seeking Artist Proposals.

K Space Contemporary is seeking proposals for exhibitions. Individual artists and curators are encouraged to submit proposals. Works in all media will be accepted. Exhibitions selected from proposals received by the deadline will be scheduled 18 months to 2 years in advance.

We are looking for original, innovative, contemporary works of art not previously exhibited at KSpace Contemporary. We exhibit works that may be experimental, non-commercial, or difficult to exhibit in traditional spaces because of size, materials, or subject matter. We also consider site-specific, installation and performance art. We consider artists from all across the United States, although our focus is on regional art.

Exhibitions at K Space Contemporary run 4-6 weeks, including time to install, dismantle and repair walls. K Space retains 40% commission on sales. Selected artists or curators are required to read & sign the K Space Exhibit Agreement before being added to the schedule. In addition, please be aware that selected artists/curators are responsible for some costs and work involved with their show. (See Exhibitor’s Responsibilities below.)

Selections are made by the K Space Exhibition Committee and Board of Directors. Artists will be notified 10-12 weeks after the deadline. Your submission materials will not be returned. Artists’ packets are kept on file for future consideration.

Brighton Biennial

Brighton Photo Biennial is an ambitious celebration of international photographic practice, firmly established in the national and international calendar, and is now looking forward to its 2010 edition.

The Biennial began in 2003 and has since delivered two further editions in 2006 and 2008 which is available for ongoing commentary, updated information and education projects. There is more information about the Biennial on the About page.

Brighton Photo Biennial runs a continuous education programme that is active during and between Biennials, creating grass roots projects with local communities, artists and individuals.

The Autumn issue of 1000 Words MagazineThe Unfathomable– is now online, Featuring work-in-progress from JH Engström, a survey of recent Farnham graduate Anna Linderstam’s oeuvre to date, Kelli Connell’s Double Life series, a Photoworks presentation on Gone Astray Details by Clare Strand; a special book review of Water Does Not Soak in Rain by Korean artist Atta Kim and an essay on Without Sanctuary – a collection of found and anonymous photographs of lynchings in America’s deep south – there are many different modes of representation in this issue, but all make strong statements both on and through photography and, we hope, will touch you in some profound way.
