In keeping with the tradition of being an eclectic and inclusive festival, we enjoy seeing how folks take different initiatives to exhibit their work, as in the case of the photographic artists at Loft Studio in the Blue Star Complex. Organized by Marianna Urrutia, the group exhibit, FOTOgrafiar, features her images, and the images of Juan I. Garcia, Lucia Tschen Hamilton, Raul and Claudia Garcia, Mark Forsythe, and William Gay.

One of the favorite destinations of our annual FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA pilgrimages, is Say Sí, whose students always produce exciting, clever, bodies of work. Readymade Redux, an all-student exhibit showcasing experimental photography in mixed-media, is a must-see for photography enthusiasts. Readymade Redux is actually two exhibits. One, Foto Escultura, by Say Sí Middle School Art Students is a modern interpretation of the traditional technique of using photographic images as the basis for three-dimensional photo sculptures, presented in a playful image-and-sound-installation format. Number two is the Altered Objects exhibit by Say Sí High School Media and Visual Art Students, exploring relationships between images and objects.
